Arts & Culture
Performances take place here many days a week, of music all around the world (despite the name, the Cairo Opera House doesn't only perform Opera!). Tickets are very affordable - seats go for usually around 100 - 150 EGP, or about 7 USD / 5.50 EUR.

The viewing platform allows you to experience a breathtaking panorama over Cairo's skyline. The line to the tower, as with all towers worldwide, can get rather long, so make sure to bring water, snacks, and maybe a book to read.

For the time being, the old Egyptian Museum is still open and located in a historical building on Tahrir Square. Its most famous attraction - Tutankhamun's Mask - is, as of now (August 2019), still on display. Make sure to go there while you still can!

You will have great view of Cairo from the Citadel, and, on a clear day, you will even be able to see the Pyramids, 16 kilometers (10 miles) away!

This very modern museum has a large collection of Islamic art, starting from the Umayyad Caliphate up until modern times. Its geographic scope is also very large, as it collects pieces from Morocco to the west up until Afghanistan in the east.

This is the traditional market (Souq) of Cairo. It's a good place to pick up souvenirs, but even if you don't intend to buy anything, it's nice just to wander around and look at the wares on offer. Make sure to haggle over prices if you do choose to purchase anything from here!

It is a very relaxing place to go and escape from Cairo's urban sprawl, as it offers nice, quiet, and secluded gardens to its visitors. This palace is located approximately thirty minutes from the apartment.

Koshary is a form of traditional Egyptian fast food, usually containing chickpeas, lentils, rice, pasta, fried onion, tomato sauce, and garlic vinegar. It is very affordable and filling, and is even vegetarian friendly. Koshary El-Tahrir is an approximately five minute walk from the apartment, so it's a great place to go and try this Egyptian dish!

Chef Saber is a restaurant often visited by locals living in Dokki. It offers many varieties of Egyptian food, so it is an excellent place to go and taste many different dishes. The restaurant is very affordable and only a ten minute walk from the apartment.
Additionally, its sister restaurant, Chef Saber Seafood, is located next door. As the name suggests, this restaurant specializes in Egyptian seafood, and always has fresh fish on offer.

Their Ceviche and Churros are particularly good, and I would highly recommend them. In addition, they have a dedicated bar, where many alcoholic drinks and cocktails are available.
