I love this place, but I love me a little Wiener Schnitzel every now and again and this Austrian is outstanding. It's right on the corner of Gay Palm Springs epicenter Arenas Road and also downtown Palm Springs. Modern decor, very friendly service. Good idea to call, you might need reservations.

This is your go-to diner in the desert. If you have a dog that's a good walker and it isn't the middle of summer, it's an easy walk from the house to this tribute to Marilyn Monroe in restaurant form. Not kidding. Every inch of the wall is covered with Marilyn memorabilia--this is an old-fashioned diner, well in a strip mall, with booths and a u-shaped counter in the center.

IMPORTANT TIP--expect the temperature to be 20 degrees cooler up at the summit. Make sure that you wear layers you may need them. Also, check their website---you might even have snow at the summit. Bring your camera and your hiking boots you can go on some terrific hikes up there.

La Quinta is a very upscale community located down valley from the house. Spa La Quinta is a getaway that you won't forget, the perfect setting for a variety of different massages, facials, and other luxurious treatments. Expensive compared to other spas but well worth the price.
