Bean to bar artisan chocolate shop in Athens' 5 Points neighborhood. Cacao beans are imported from Ecuador and roasted on site before becoming incredible truffles, bars and specialty desserts. Good coffee, too. Highly recommend! (and a perfect ending to dinner at Donna Changs!)

A classic English pub. Terrific bar menu to accompany their extensive beer menu. Futbol viewings are a big draw. Fun environment!

A downtown Athens must! Fun environment, can't go wrong menu, excellent desserts. There's a reason it's packed almost all the time, but it's worth the wait.

Modern takes on traditional southern dishes. Chef Mimi Maumus has created an amazing menu of incredible food. We've loved everything we've ever eaten here. The tomato pie is life changing! A little off the beaten path, but still convenient in Athens.

One of the coolest vibes in Athens. As you would expect, the oysters are renowned. But the rest of the menu is fantastic, as well. The steamed mussels are out of this world! Seabear also offers some great nightly specials, like Ramen Monday. Better get there early, though--they run out fast!

This is our favorite Saturday morning ritual. This farmer's market is doing everything right.
All vendors raise their own produce, flowers, cheese and meat following organic guidelines. The Comerian bakery has lovely breads and pastries. There's amazing fresh pastas, local honey, fresh pressed juices, 1000 Faces coffee, Farm Cart biscuits and Holy Crepe food trucks. Live music and artists offering handmade wares enhance the amazing sense of community here.
The market is open every Saturday April-December from 8-12 at Bishop Park.

Drinks & Nightlife
There are endless opportunities for nightlife and adult beverages in Athens, so we're not even going to try to list them all, but... If you like handcrafted beer in a hip environment, Creature Comforts is a must. Always a revolving beer menu with seasonal treats, but Tropicalia is just about perfect anytime. For an added bonus, go between 4-7pm on Wednesday and catch the downtown Athens Farmers Market.

These spots are all in downtown Watkinsville and less than a 15 minute walk from the house.
This is one of our local neighborhood restaurants. We love it because it's a short walk and the menu is diverse--you can find great sandwiches and burgers or order a beautiful steak, pork chop or seafood dish. Pretty extensive beer/wine/cocktail menu.

Great pub food/drinks in a fun environment. Nice outdoor lawn space/fire pit. We've enjoyed everything we've eaten there.
They recently began serving Sunday brunch; we haven't tried it yet, but the menu looks enticing!
