I like to access this area through the Greenwood Drive entrance and take the Lawton Plantation boardwalk through the historic rice field. The 4,000 year old Indian Shell Ring is also worth a visit. The Harbour Town Light was the first private lighthouse to be built in South Carolina in 150 years when it was constructed in the 1960's. It was designed so that it visually anchored the 18th hole of the Harbour Town Golf Links course.

Located on Hole 15 of the Arthur Kills Golf Course in Palmetto Dunes, this unique landmark has no special parking area - you have to simply pull into the grass along the side of the road. There has been only the minimal work to keep it preserved, but that maintains its true historic character.
