Great Indian food. Located in Sandymount village, a 10 minute walk from Sydenham. There are lots of other restaurants, shops and pubs in the village. And as you can see it is close to the beach should you want an after lunch/dinner stroll!

Best Thai food in Dublin! A must if you like Asian food. Their massaman curry is to die for. Baggot Street is covered in restaurants. It's worth walking up and seeing if there's anything else you fancy. We haven't tried everywhere, but Saba is a good place to start. There a few sushi places and pizza places, some cafes, and other restaurants. Lots of choice!

Drinks & Nightlife

The Marker Hotel in Grand Canal Square has a rooftop bar and terrace with great views of Dublin. You don't have to dress up to go there, but you wouldn't want to be wearing runners/sneakers either. Bear in mind they are closed a few nights this summer for private events. See the website: https://www.themarkerhoteldublin.com/rooftop-bar-and-terrace/

A speakeasy hidden behind a regular looking black door in one of the city's busiest areas. Inside it's like stepping back in time. The menu (only cocktails) is organised by year (eg. "cocktails pre-1850. Very cool). My favourite is a Dirty Wizard (be warned, it has a bit of a kick). Definitely my top recommendation for a drink in Dublin. It can be worth calling ahead on busy nights. They also serve food until 10pm

Some love it, some hate it. Temple Bar is made up of lots of little cobblestone alleys where during the day you'll find cool shops (second hand, vintage) and food spots. At night it turns into the quintessential stereotype of Irish nightlife. Expect to pay double for a pint here! But if you want to hear trad and meet other tourists, this is the place to be.

Parks & Nature

Phoenix Park is bigger than all the parks in London put together and twice the size of Central Park in New York. Uniquely, it is home to a herd of about 400 deer! Dublin zoo and the President's residence are also located within the park. Lots to see and do here!

Sydenham is located right off a main road, the Merrion road. You can take the bus from here into town. The 4 or the 7 will take you in. Tell the bus driver where you are going and depending on the distance he will tell you how much you owe. You can also ask him to call out your stop if you are unsure of where it is (most buses have announcements these days but some of the older ones don't yet).
