Hartley has a selection of real country restaurants. Blackheath which is 15 minutes away has a real coffee scene great for breakfast or morning tea. There is a chocolate house in Katoomba great for hot chocolate and chocolates just before the 3 sisters. Megalong Valley has a great tea room.

There are beautiful bush walks through out the Blue Mountains including Leura Cascades and Wentworth Falls. In Lithgow there is the glow worm caves and Secret Creek an Australian Wildlife Santuary and Vegan restaurant. There are some beautiful fresh water swimming holes including Jelly Bean pool in Glenbrook and Hyde Park which is a local treasure in Hartley. Blackheath has an antique arcade and is full of art galleries and has a beautiful national park.

There are loads of events that happen in the mountains ranging from music festivals to the Yulefest which is a Winter Christmas festival where they have events at hotels. You can also hope on a bus which takes you on a tour of the Blue Mountains and points out famous land marks
