It is a beautiful place, where you can visit the famous Stanley Hotel, see Elk roaming around, walk old town where there are great restaurants ... shops ... taffy ... and attractions. It is also where you can enter the beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park and cross the divide toward Winter Park.

There is either the free shuttle to take you around the area, free motorized devises, or walking all the shops and restaurants with a beautiful river. Tons of night life options all around that area. So explore the City if you can. There is an RTD stop on 120th st off I 25 if you want to ride the bus into town. It is. direct line to the city so no transfers. Have fun.

It is a great place for both the roller coaster amusement park and a water park. They are combined together. It is a traditional place as well ... it's been around a very long time it's a local favorite and it's downtown Denver so you can eat dinner downtown if you spend the day at elitches. Two tips: go to King Soopers for a cheaper ticket and if you don't want to spend the money on the food in the park just pack a cooler and you can eat in the parking lot ... I believe they still have the picnic tables or sometimes we just eat under one of the trees.

This is a wonderful town in the mountains that has some wonderful events throughout the year. During Christmas the whole town dresses in the old time days with roasted chestnuts and fun activities. They also have the George town Loop which is a great train ride in the mountains.

When traveling around remember these tips: Mountain driving requires you to pull over in a shoulder or scenic site spot to let cars behind you pass when there is more than 3 and when two lanes open up to stay in the right.
Also, always travel with layers for cold, wind, and rain. Colorado weather changes fast so be prepared by taking a backpack with coats and sweatshirts for a wise way to protect yourself when it changes. It's true when they say wait five minutes.
If you are traveling back from the mountains on I70 on a Sunday, leave before 11 or after 7 because the traffic down is aweful.

Exploring The Mountains
Gas up before you go, pack a backpack with coats, water bottles, sun screen, sunglasses,
sweatshirts, and hats. It is wise to add towels and extra shoes for the car In case you get wet when exploring in the mountains. Wear either hiking boots or in summer waterproof heavy Teva types, especially when tubing the rivers in Ft Collins down the Poudre or the Boulder Canyon. Both are fun.

MUST READ: ALTITUDE SICKNESS
It's a real thing when you come to visit. You won't be able to drink nearly as much alcohol as you do at home. It will hit you harder and faster. Give yourself a day to acclimate, and another when you go higher. We have oxygen bars so take advantage of those if breathing becomes difficult. Go down if you start feeling sick, It means you went too high too fast. Going down will correct that. Bring gum to chew to help your ears pop as you go high. Especially for kids, it can hurt like in a plane.
