A little neighborhood place, it's an Izakaya-styled (informal Japanese gastropub) restaurant. They serve great Saki, Japanese beer and more. Casual, cozy, friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Friendly staff who don’t mind explaining the menu or how to order. It's also open late too!! As for the food, best Salmon Sashimi ever, they have skewers, sushi and all kind of delicious food. Good background music adds to the friendly atmosphere.

Philippe The Original is one of the oldest and best known restaurants in Southern California. Philippe’s was established in 1908 by Philippe Mathieu, who claimed the distinction of having created the “French Dipped Sandwich.” One day in 1918, while making a sandwich, Mathieu inadvertently dropped the sliced french roll into the roasting pan filled with juice still hot from the oven. The patron, a policeman, said he would take the sandwich anyway and returned the next day with some friends asking for more dipped sandwiches. And so was born the “French Dipped Sandwich,” so called either because of Mathieu’s French heritage, the French roll the sandwich is made on or because the officer’s name was French. The answer is lost to history. And it is has good prices!

If you have the munchies in the middle of the night because of jet lag or you just left the nightclub, head over to Canter's. It NEVER CLOSES and is busy all night long. You won't be the only one there at 3:00 in the morning. Ahhh, the aroma as you walk in the door. Definitely order a pastrami or corned beef on rye bread. (Big enough to share with a friend) Add mustard, enjoy your dill pickle - I think I am hungry NOW. If you don't want to sit down, you can just grab some food at their bakery or the deli and take it with you. You can order online It is in its 3rd generation of the Canter family. The grandkids opened up a little bar and live music area too. http://www.cantersdeli.com/home

Feel like hitting the walking trail before enjoying a trendy brunch? Or maybe you want to hop in a pool to cool off after a long day of shopping? There's a park for that. Located across the street from The Grove, Pan Pacific Park has something, in both its facilities and its location, for everyone. The park began its long history as a public facility in 1935, with the opening of the Pan-Pacific Auditorium. The building hosted countless sporting events, concerts and even political speeches. When it burned to the ground in 1989 following contentious debate about its future, the city decided once and for all to turn it into a park for public use. Throughout the ensuing years, the space has grown and changed, but it stands now as one of the most family- and user-friendly parks in the middle of the city.

A poll by LA Observed rated McCabe's as one of the 32 greatest things about Los Angeles. McCabe's is described as "an achingly intimate room" with a "bare-bones setting" featuring "the best guitar music west of the 405 Freeway. Legends, traveling minstrels and local talent -- they all seem to pass through McCabe's at some point. They may be there to get their guitars fixed; the club has a day job as one of the oldest stringed instrument stores in the city. McCabe's is a mild-mannered guitar/stringed instrument shop by day" that "opens up as a world-class concert venue by night. At full capacity the concert room holds 150.
