Cadbury World is a tourist attraction, featuring a self-guided exhibition tour, created and run by the Cadbury Company which created the world famous Cadbury chocolate brand. It's what "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" film and novel are based on. Cadbury World is an adventure into the world of chocolate. From humble beginnings in a shop in Birmingham the Cadbury brothers created a chocolate empire that has factories around the world. The Cadbury factory at Bournville has a visitor centre that is dedicated to the history of chocolate. Both educational and excitingly portrayed, the visitor can learn about how cocoa beans are grown, how they came to be imported to Europe and made into the chocolate that we know today. How has chocolate changed over the years, and what made Cadbury's so successful. There is also an excellent factory shop where visitors can purchase a wide range of Cadbury products at factory prices. A restaurant/cafeteria can be found on site and there is a play area for children. Special features include a 3D video story and an interactive theatre which deals not only with chocolate, its manufacture and its advertising but also provides an insight into the Cadbury

This tower is the reason why I live here. I am in love with how gorgeous it is. It can be seen from my house, and when my house was featured on BBC's Homes TV series, I made them include a brief introduction of the tower in the programme. At 100m tall, Old Joe is the world’s tallest freestanding clock tower. Its design and aesthetic are based on the Torree del Mangia campanile in Siena. The clock tower is the location for many University celebrations throughout the year, most notably our graduation celebrations. It is famously believed to have been the inspiration for the tower of Orthanc, the black tower of Isengard, in J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It is also believed that Old Joe was the inspiration for the clock tower in Pixar’s Monsters University. Though this is not confirmed, the tower in the film does bear an undeniable likeness! In 1989 Brian G.W.Manning discovered Asteroid 10515 Old Joe, naming it in the clock tower’s honour. During World War II revolutionary radar inventors working at the University used the tower in their tests. The clock tower is home to nesting Peregrine falcons, who can be regularly be heard and spotted around Chancellor’s Court. The tower's clock faces also change colour on special dates in the calendar such as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This act also helps celebrate the important research that goes on at the University.

Being one of Birmingham’s best attractions, The Birmingham Botanical Gardens offers something for everyone, be it one of our four stunning glasshouses showing tropical rainforest to arid desert, playground, tearoom and garden gift shop all surrounded by some of the most beautiful gardens in the UK. There are four glasshouses which range from our exotic Tropical House through to our Subtropical, Mediterranean and Arid Houses. There is a large lawn in front of the glasshouses with a range of beds and shrubberies around its perimeter. Overall, the character is that of a Victorian public park with a bandstand set in 15 acres (6.1 ha) of landscaped greenery.
