Food Scene
The Corner is an easy (0.4 mi) walk from our house. This is the area students go to eat, to get coffee, to celebrate, to study, to shop and to go to the drug store. A few of our favorites here are Bodo's Bagels, Roots and Mellow Mushroom.

Bodo's is a local favorite for breakfast or lunch. Fresh bagels, bagel sandwiches, soups. The line may be long, but it moves quickly. My favorite in the morning is an egg bagel with bacon and cheddar cheese on a plain bagel.

The Downtown Mall is reasonable walk (1.2 mi) or you can catch the free trolley in front of the UVA rotunda. Main Street was bricked over and turned into a pedestrian mall back in the 1970's . Today it is a vibrant local hub for restaurants, bars, shopping, movie theater, live performance theater, live music, street musicians.

Just below the Belmont Bridge, Barbie's Burrito Barn is one of our favorite lunch or dinner picks! It's fresh and it's delicious. It's a cozy spot with 3-4 tables inside and tables to sit outside. Barbie cooks everything herself, including delicious salsa. My favorite is the guac tostada with chicken. Lisa like the chicken taco. You might even see Tess taking orders on Friday evenings. Whatever you order, servings are generous.
