You will often find his son at the house and he is very friendly and welcoming. We recommend this as an alternative to Jim Thompson's House, which is very touristy.

Very popular local, all day French restaurant
This restaurant is run by a chef who used to work at the 5* Sukhothai Hotel. It isn't the cheapest place to eat but great food at a much lower price than you would pay for the same in a 5* hotel. It is a funny mix of local setting (not luxurious but clean etc) on an interesting side street but great food. try the Lamb Shank with truffle risotto!

There is also a local market opposite Topps, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Can be an interesting place to visit and good for fresh produce
At the top of Yenakart Road, this is a local, international supermarket with local and international goods and produce. Not the cheapest but reliable. There are several other shops and restaurants there as well.
