Get close to over 1,000 of the world’s rarest and endangered animals at Newquay Zoo! Located on the north coast of Cornwall, surrounded by 13 acres of lush tropical gardens it is a visitor attraction where you can run wild, explore and release your inner animal. Watch the lions devour their lunch and then adventure into the Tropical House (if you're brave enough) and meet some of the more unusal residents including a sloth! If that isn’t enough, we have activity trails, face painting, a children’s play area, a Woodland Walk and Dragon maze to keep the little ones busy. Just a short walk from Newquay town centre, Newquay Zoo is one of Cornwall’s leading visitor attractions and as a charity

The Camel Trail provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Running through both a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) the Camel Trail is an 18 mile largely traffic free, surfaced and virtually level multi use trail which passes through some of the most spectacular countryside in the south west. No bikes no need to worry you can rent bicycles and all the extras you need to accommaodate your party for a very affordable price at the beginning of the trail. A great day out for all the family.

Arts & Culture

The Minack Theatre is one of the world’s most famous outdoor theatres. Today, we welcome more than 80,000 people a year to our performances and 150,000 people come just to look round, experience our stunning views and learn more about our story. The idea for the theatre was born when Rowena Cade, who lived in Minack House at the top of the cliff, decided to create a place for local drama enthusiasts to perform Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Over the winter of 1931 and into 1932 Rowena and her gardener, Billy Rawlings, moved endless granite boulders and earth, creating the stage and the lower terraces of the theatre, in the same place as you see them today. The first performance was in August 19

St Ives, a small Cornish town on the southwest coast of England, perhaps seems an unlikely site for a major art gallery. However, its artistic connections date back to Victorian times when numerous artists came to St Ives to paint, attracted by its special quality of light. Artists associatedBuilding work began in 1991, funded by donations from the local community, the Henry Moore Foundation and the European Regional Development Fund. The Tate Gallery, St Ives opened in June 1993 and in just six months welcomed over 120,000 visitors – 50,000 more than the original target for the entire year. Since then, the gallery has been an outstanding success with an average of 240,000 visitors per year.

Narrow streets and steep valley sides lead down to the centre of the old Mevagissey where the distinctive twin harbour provides a safe haven for the many fishing boats that land their daily catch of skate, lobster, and sole. In typical picture postcard style, pubs, cafes, galleries and shops cluster around the harbour walls and line the pretty streets. Named after two Irish saints, St Meva and St Issey, the village dates back to at least 1313 and during the 1800s Mevagissey prospered on the back of the abundant source of pilchards out to sea. Around the maze of streets you’ll find plenty of seafood restaurants that the village is renowned for and there is nothing more sublimely Cornish

Here it is easy to step back in time in what is a largely an unspoilt fishing village on the South East coast of Cornwall. Its beautiful cottages cling to steep hillsides around a small harbour with spectacular views of land and sea making it an artist’s paradise. Like its neighbour Looe, Polperro offers plenty of places to eat and relax and has a great selection of accommodation. Dotted around the village are several galleries selling work by local artists. Many of these artists are involved in the arts and music festival in June, which includes the crowning of the mock mayor and parades through the narrow streets.

Soaring above the surrounding rooftops, Truro Cathedral is located in the centre of this thriving Cornish city and wonderfully situated in the middle of the county of Cornwall. Designed by architect John Loughborough Pearson, it is one of only three cathedrals in the UK which has three spires. Completed in 1910 it is a magnificent example of gothic revival architecture. A must-see place to visit in Cornwall with free entry. Along with its heritage, Truro Cathedral provides sacred space and common ground for all. Led by the Dean of Truro, The Very Rev’d Roger Bush, the cathedral team extends a warm welcome to people of all faiths.
