Your Hosts
EIGHT4NINE Restaurant & Lounge is owned and operated by Willie Rhine and John Paschal.
Willie Rhine is a 23-year resident of Palm Springs who started his career in the restaurant business at the acclaimed Le Vallauris Restaurant in Palm Springs, and later managed two of the busiest and most successful restaurants in the Palm Springs Valley.
John Paschal, has been in the desert for fifteen years. John is proud and grateful that his only job/ career has been in photography and he is still going strong after almost 40 years in the business which includes photo shoots with Brad Pitt, Eva Longoria, KTLA News Team Billboards, Cast Photos of T.V. Shows such as “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless.” Paschal opened Snapshot Palm Springs Studios, which has transformed into a top event space in the desert, hosting parties for major corporations and private clients.

Bates Vault: The Museum Design Store with unique items that showcase the best in contemporary design.
The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert – The Galen and the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden Opens a New Window. features ongoing and temporary explorations of painting, photography, sculpture and new media. The building is LEED certified for environmental design, and is surrounded by a four-acre sculpture garden. The beautifully landscaped setting is open year-round, and hosts numerous performances and receptions.

The botanical gardens include geographic replicas of areas as diverse as Baja California’s Viscaino Desert and the exotic deserts of Madagascar. Stop by the interactive Discovery Center, visit one of the largest G-scale model train displays, enjoy a Wildlife Wonders animal presentation, hike the nature trails, have lunch in one of the cafes, or pet the goats in the Petting Kraal. Let the shuttles take you from African Village WaTuTu, to the state-of-the-art Wildlife Hospital. The Living Desert offers an experience like no other. The Living Desert's mission is desert conservation through preservation, education and appreciation. They offer student programs for schools, family and kid's programs, as well as adult programs. Check the website for location information, current hours and events. Nature trails, animal shows, a state-of-the-art wildlife hospital, and much more are featured at The Living Desert. The exhibits include over 1,600 species of plants and 140 species of animals from the deserts of North America and Africa. Additionally, the park boasts a list of over 150 species of free-flying birds and is the best place in the world to view roadrunners. The park has records of over 30 species of free crawling reptiles including chuckwallas, zebra-tailed lizards, and desert iguanas. The more than 20 species of free-roaming mammals are mostly out of sight during the day, but tracks of coyote, bobcat, gray fox, and black-tailed jackrabbit can be seen on some of the dusty trails. The botanical gardens attract over 30 species of butterflies and the ponds attract over 20 species of dragonflies, including queen butterflies, large orange sulphurs, roseate skimmers, and Mexican amberwings.
