Food scene

Stormbreaker Brewing is a great, local (1-2 blocks from apartment) brewery with unique craft beers and a great outdoor patio scene. Trivia every Tuesday night and covered fire pit. Highly recommend.

Psychic a fairly recent addition to the Mississippi Ave scene, but it's really a special place. Set in a classic Portland Home, Psychic gives off a haunted house vibe with excellent drinks, outdoor fire pits, large screen that often plays movies and sporting events. The food is a combination of classic pub food often with an Indian twist.

Por Qué No is a Portland Mexican food staple were people wait line 20-30 people deep at night, way less crowded during the day. The food is excellent and worth the wait, I think, with indoor and outdoor seating in a quirky setting. This is one of those places that everyone that visits Portland wants to visit, and while there are plenty of other Spanish / Mexican type places around, the aesthetic and quality of food of this one is why people visit and come back. Insider tip, if you're not planning on dining in, you can look at the menu online and call ahead. Your food will be ready at the counter and you skip the lines.

No Portland neighborhood would be complete without a food cart block and that what you get with Prost. There are about a dozen foods carts located directly outside a traditional German bar and you're allowed to bring drinks and food back and forth which is the best part. Two of my favorite carts are Pastrami Zombie (probably the best Pastrami sandwich I've ever had) and Matt's BBQ (excellent BBQ and great portions). Tons of covered seating, great scene to just relax and people watch.

Grand Central is just a block off Mississippi Ave and two blocks away from the apartment. It's you're looking for excellent bread, treats, coffee, this is a great spot to start. You can probably find a more coffee shop vibe and arguably better coffee right up the street at The Fresh Pot, but you can beat Grand Central for their baked goods (and proximity).

This is one of my favorite places on Mississippi Ave to get a drink and have a burger. BarBar is a great place to sit outside on a nice day. The patio area is huge and really a fun scene. BarBar is also attached to the famous Mississippi Studios where they have music playing nightly and some great bands roll through there. It's the type of music that you probably hear on a Spotify playlist and think "I wonder who that is?" Well, they all play at Mississippi Studios! Go take a look for yourself.
