Restaurants

Eating in Tarifa is a joy! There's so many places to check out, the typical styles are tapas and sharing plates with lots of seafood, but there's vegetarian restaurants and good meat as well.
This restaurant is run by a great team who are really friendly, and who create plates that are a little bit different from the norm. My favourite dishes are the smoked octopus tempura, kwasis in kimchi sauce, grilled cheese, peruvian stlye sashimi and the chocolate fondant dessert. A must try!

Fantastic feel and style in this place, it has a very similar menu to the ever popular El Frances restaurant as it's run by the same people. Here has a cooler ambiance and is larger so you are more likely to get in!

A great little place by the market, the patatas bravas here are the best I have ever had (they are a little different with sweet potatos and alioi included), the picanha steak is amazing as is the tuna. They also have a tapas menu if you just want a quick bite. Also have some really nice salads, that are a lot more filling than you might think!

Cool restaurant down by the port, varied menu with good veggy options, they also do a great asian style wok with prawns.

On the corner just down the road, this place is popular with locals at all times of the day, for a simple breakfast of coffee with a tomato toast it's the best (and cheapest). Also great people watching from the patio.

One door down the street, this is the perfect place if you want a takeaway pizza to eat on the terrace. Stop by and have beer whilst you wait for your pizzas to be cooked. My favourite is the 4 cheeses with added mushroom, but they can do pretty much any pizza you like!

This restaurant has amazing views over to Africa. If you want a more secluded beach, there's one right by here.

Chiringuitos

Lounging on the beach with a beer is one of the best things to do in Tarifa, here are a few of my favourites
A cool offering that's on the south end of Los Lances, one of the closer ones to the apartment (5-10 mins walk). Perfect place for an aperol spritz or gin tonic and the sunset!

Further along Los Lances, this is a drive (or long walk), but is the main beach to learn to kitesurf, so it has a great feel in the early evening after everyone gets off the water, good snacks, cold beers and tasty mojitos.

Beautiful lawn and bar with a great vibe and good kiting, especially with Levante wind. There's a little bbq restaurant and lunch buffet here too for food.

Kitesurf schools

Tarifa is obviously famous for it's kiting, so if you are visiting you should really check it out! There are lots of schools in town here, I would recommend KTS and Kitepassion, I did my training to be an instructor with KTS and later worked with Kitepassion. They are both run by very professional, very friendly guys who will get you up kiting and having a great time asap!
Juan is the man! Great energy and passion for the sport, good equipment and professional instructors (I used to work here!). I think the semi private is the best option as you get more time with the kite (80 euros for 2 hours pp)

Great store with a good selection of second hand gear. Daniele has been instructing kiting forever and is a really good guy!
