Favourite places to visit!
A few of the must see towns and villages for your visit
A beautiful town sitting on the banks of the river Dronne, It's a wonderful place to spend some time...walk along the edge of the river and through the river-side gardens, browse the many and varied shops, admire the stunning benedictine abbey and eat and relax in one of the river fronted restaurants or cafe's. You can even hire canoe's to gently glide down the river to get a unique view of the town!

Brantôme

A charming and very picturesque medieval village about 25 minutes from us and a must see!
Full of gorgeous buildings with a river running through and a beautiful square flanked by a 12th century chateau on one side and the Romanesque Byzantine church of St Jean Baptist built in the XIIth century on the other side. There are restaurants and cafes to sit and while away the afternoon as well. They have the most amazing flower festival, usually the middle weekend in May and the whole village is full of stalls selling a vast array of flowers and wonderful displays are everywhere too! The roses climbing the houses and buildings are my absolute favourite!

Saint-Jean-de-Côle

Perigueux is the capital of the Dordogne and is full of lovely old buildings and cobbled streets to explore. There is also a huge choice of places to eat and drink so definitely something for everyone! In the summer there are many outdoor concerts and festivals to enjoy which makes it a lovely and buzzing place to visit.

Périgueux
Perigueux is the capital of the Dordogne and is full of lovely old buildings and cobbled streets to explore. There is also a huge choice of places to eat and drink so definitely something for everyone! In the summer there are many outdoor concerts and festivals to enjoy which makes it a lovely and buzzing place to visit.
This is the village with the fairy tale chateau! Lovely place to visit and spend a sunny afternoon. Plenty of places to eat and drink, most of which look out on the magnificent chateau. Only 15 minutes from us.

Jumilhac-le-Grand

Villars is a small pretty village with the attractive ruins of the Abbaye de Boschaud.
Close by is the beautiful Chateau de Puyguilhem which was constructed in the 16th century and is open to visitors as well.
On the edge of the village is the fantastic 'Grotte de Villars', a huge natural cave full of stalactites and stalagmites and also a couple of pre-historic paintings including an extremely rare one of a human figure. There is also a prehistoric trail with plants prehistoric man would have eaten and information boards about how he lived. Definitely a brilliant place to visit and as St-Jean-de-cole and Brantome are nearby then you can combine them all for a full day out!!

Villars

Definitely a brilliant place to visit and as St-Jean-de-cole and Brantome are nearby then you can combine them all for a full day out!!

If you click on dept 24 on the map then that is us and there are several routes to choose from...it can be a bit on the physical side but you can have electrical assistance to the velorail which I'm very happy to hear!!! Booking by telephone is essential!

The quiet tracks and lanes around us are perfect for cycling and we definitely recommend this company if you would like to hire bikes for your stay. It can be a little hilly round here in places so they hire electric assisted bikes to help save your legs as well!

This is a beautiful swimming lake just 15 minutes from us and is perfect for cooling off in on the hot summer days. It's one of the more quieter lakes but there are still toilets and shower blocks there plus a little beach cafe and it is one of our favourites!
