Downtown Pensacola

Here's a list of some of our favorite places in and around the Belmont-De Villiers neighborhood.
So even if vegan food ain’t your thing, you should check out this award-winning dive bar. The ambiance is fun and eclectic, and the beer selection is perfect for the adventurous drinker. On any night of the week, there can be a punk rock show, a comedy set, or a dj spinning records. Definitely one of our neighborhood favorites.

This is the closest grocery store to the neighborhood. You'll find most anything you would need, but know that it will likely be a little pricier than Publix or Family Dollar (both are nearby as well!).

By far, the best brewery in Downtown Pensacola. With a little something for everybody, it's hard to go wrong, and for that reason, it stays pretty busy. WHile they don't serve food there, they generally always have a food truck parked out front. It's also dog-friendly if you have a pup in tow with you during your trip.

Chances are you probably aren't here to buy a bunch of home decor or furniture, but if you are looking for something different and special, duh is a great place to shop. More like a few shops mashed into one, duh has men and women's clothing and accessories, art, books, etc. If you're in town for a wedding, anniversary, or other special occasion, this would be the place I'd go to find a gift.

Just a few blocks away from the Casita, Five Sisters is a staple for Southern cooking right in heart of the Historic Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood. They typically have live music every night of the weekend.

One of the top whiskey bars in the country, this is a must-see for any whiskey aficionados. It's also one of the better cocktail bars in Pensacola, so if you're not a whiskey buff, don't let that deter you from checking it out.

A little bit off the beaten path, Elbow Room is unlike any place you've ever been to. Part dive bar, part quirky memorabilia museum, I can't even begin to adequately describe how great this place is. The food is great with gourmet pizza and sandwiches on the menu, and the beer selection is good and cold (like serve-it-to-you-in-a-frozen-mug-with-the-beer-partly-frozen cold). If you're not much of a beer drinker, try one of the champagne cocktails. Just go.

A three-minute walk up DeVilliers, Blue Dot has been a local’s favorite since 1946. No-frills counter-serve joint with a small seating area & simple menu of burgers & ribs. It’s lunch only and they don’t offer cheese, but you won’t mind.

Located in the former city jail (the irony, amirite?) and a part of Pensacola's Historic Village, the PMA has been consistently bringing in some of the best contemporary artists, and regularly hosts art talks. If you're looking for some culture, this is a good place to start.

I'd put IRON up there as one of the best restaurants in the Southeast. Seriously. I'm not a food critic or anything, but it's consistently one of the best dinner experiences I've had. Be prepared to drop some coin because you have to make room for a couple cocktails and dessert on top of the delicious appetizers and entrees.

Do you like tiki drinks and cover bands? Kingfisher is the place for you! Dive-y in the best ways, this place has great food and drinks with a fun night-time atmosphere. Go on a Friday or Saturday night.

Pensacola Beach

Some of our favorite places on Pensacola Beach.
Truly a one-of-a-kind place. Not your typical beach experience, but if you're looking to escape the crowds, and if you have an appreciation for history and architecture, Fort Pickens is a must-see.

Located right on the Gulf, Casino Beach Bar is one of the few places that doesn't seem like a pandering tourist trap. Good food, drinks, and atmosphere, this is one of my favorite spots on the Beach.

Paradise is one of the local favorites, and there's great live music almost every night. Again, this is a more genuine experience than what you might get from the Boardwalk.

Ok, so this is the one tourist-y place that we're putting on our list because, well, we have to put at least one, right? Peg Leg's is exactly what you might expect - fried Gulf Seafood, burgers, and a signature rum drink called "The Shipwreck".
