This is a fairly recently opened cafe only 200 m from our house. They serve a variety of filled rolls, paninis, cooked breakfasts and lots of dvicious home baking. This is also the most reasonably priced food outlet in the area. we often go here ourselves. They are open early Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays.

Highest Mountain in Britain
Glen Nevis (Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Nibheis) is a glen in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, with Fort William at its foot. It is bordered to the south by the Mamore range, and to the north by the highest mountains in the British Isles: Ben Nevis, Càrn Mor Dearg, Aonach Mòr, and Aonach Beag. It is home to one of the three highest waterfalls in Scotland, Steall Falls, where the Allt Coire a'Mhail joins the Water of Nevis in the glen. Below the waterfall is a steeply walled and impressive gorge. A public road runs for 10 km up the Glen, becoming single track after 7 km. There is a hotel, Scottish Youth Hostels Association hostel, and campsite at the bottom of the glen.

Just outside Glencoe village you’ll find an exquisite wood around a lochan with a backdrop of pointed mountains. The trails wind through a landscape planted with North American trees by Lord Strathcona in the 1890s – he hoped they would comfort his homesick Canadian wife.

Jump aboard Soutersa Lass for a trip down Loch Linnhe via the mussel and salmon farms across on the peninsula side of the water. The boat them heads down towards Corran Narrows and over to Seal Island which is on the Fort William side of the loch. If you are lucky, you may see some Atlantic seals on and around the island, and may even see dolphins in Loch Linnhe itself, so keep your camera on standby ready for action

Once run by Scotrail, this train is now operated by West Coast Railways. (One of Scotrails many big mistakes letting it go). The train made famous in the Harry Potter movies crosses Glenfinnan Viaduct on it's way to Mallig some 43 miles away. Twice daily in the main summer months, and early/late season one service at 10:15 returning to Fort William at around 4pm. Note: Sometimes the steam service is replaced by diesel due to operational reasons. No refund on tickets if replacement service is used.

Arts & Culture

Situated in the High Street in the heart of the historic town of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, The West Highland Museum’s collections tell the story of the region and its history. Our most renowned and unusual collection relates to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite cause. But we also hold a wealth of curious and fascinating collections relating to less well-known aspects of the lives of the people of the West Highlands, from the effects of political warfare, to the economic impact of tourism in the region, and the coming of the industrial and modern age. Why not explore a selection of items from our collections and learn about the museum and its history
