During the day, take a stroll through the Castle to the West Gates. The Lawns was once an asylum but now houses a fabulous coffee shop with a good brunch menu (and lunch). Coffee is from local roasters Stokes, a Lincoln family business. There is also Ole Ole Tapas Restaurant here. Vibrant, great menu and friendly staff. Sangria a must have. The Blue Room is a relatively new concept bringing more independent arts and music to Lincoln. Situated upstairs at The Lawns, makes this a one stop destination. Oh my. Fantastic location right on Castle Square, this quirky traditionally styled spanish restaurant is a delicious food delight. If you like tapas. Book ahead as it is small on different levels (steep stairs so request downstairs if you struggle. oh and no air conditioning the last time I visited in our long hot summer...it was too much on the top floor) I would go here any time. Lunch or dinner. There are tables outside if it's a nice day. Perfect for people watching.

It's FREE to enter the grounds of the Castle where there are plenty of benches and green spaces to sit and eat, take a picnic and take in the beautiful surroundings. Or pay your entry fee and do a walk of the Castle Walls. Stunning views and get up to the top of the Observatory Tower for stunning city views. One of 4 original copies of The Magna Carta are housed in a visitors vault. Great commentary for novice or advanced History buffs.

They serve food (but i've not eaten there) and have quiz and music nights and BBQ's on summer days but you'd need to check their blackboard outside for details. Only 100m from The Little House.
