Parks & Nature

Lviv's High Castle park is the most iconic natural landmark of the city, and indeed the entire region (spoiler alert - there is no actual castle up there). Prepare to hike up some stairs and ramps, but it's undoubtedly worth the trip! Skip it if the visibility is low (fog, heavy snowfall, etc)

Arts & Culture

The Jakub Glanzer Shul synagogue on St. Theodora Sq. is one of only 2 remaining synagogues in the entire city, out of more than 200 pre-WWII - and the only one in the city center. It is currently being renovated and fitted for a museum of Jewish heritage of Lviv. We're offering a free tour!

Shopping

Forum Lviv is by far the largest and the newest shopping mall in Lviv city center. Located just a few minutes walk from the apartment, it offers a wide variety of services and entertainments as is customary for a modern shopping mall. Of particular interest is the trendy "Silpo" convenience store, offering a selection of exotic goods, and the Planeta Kino cinema - which offers non-dubbed English screenings of blockbuster movies on a regular basis.

The Dobrobut market is the largest in the city center - that being said, it is still pretty small and a little pricey due to its central location. However, it is as authentic as a Galician market can get, and the selection of goods is superb - we shop there all the time ;) Don't miss an opportunity to small talk the traders - they LOVE it.

Drinks & Nightlife

Malevich club is the largest in Lviv and the entire western Ukraine. It is very new, too, so expect top notch design and service. Aside from the usual nightclub scene it frequently hosts music performances, exhibitions and more.

Sightseeing

The Church of St. Nicholas is the oldest in Lviv - in fact, it is almost as old as the city itself, built in 1256 by Lviv's founder - the king Danylo of Halych. Not only that, it is one of the very few Eastern Orthodox churches in Lviv city center - the vast majority being Greek Catholics instead. The church is revered by the Eastern Orthodox population of Lviv, and is a very curious location to visit due to its cultural and historical status, as well as its relative tourist obscurity.

In the medieval times Lviv's city center used to be located here, before moving to the contemporary location - hence its' name, the Old Market Square (as opposed to the Market Square in the center today). This quiet and little-known location features a number of highlights: - Restored medieval town well in the middle of the square. - The small park at the heart of the square is all that is left of Lviv's largest synagogue - the Tempel, destroyed in 1942. - Church of St. John the Baptist, the second oldest in Lviv. Located on a hillside overlooking the square, today it houses a curious and little-known museum.

Entertainment & Activities

A very good and large cinema, interesting for foreigners mainly due to the fact that they do screening of non-dubbed English movies on a regular basis.
