It's "Pure Tatamagoodness" … hip vibe, live music regularly, a changing selection of beer brewed on-site. Drop into Dexter's Butcher Block for some beef jerky or pepperoni or a sandwich to go with your flight(s) of beer for an authentic experience. Tell them Michael and Angus say hi!

It's pretty relaxing to sit out on the deck with an adult beverage or two if you're not driving, with or without your besties. Check their website for a line-up of events that almost always sell out.

Essentials

Dexter would 'love to meat you' as the sign says outside. He knows what he is doing and does it right - such a departure from what we have come to endure at the supermarket. Perfect spot for everything from a quick lunch on the run to pepperoni & beef jerky to a feast for carnivores. Take a peak in the washroom, even if you don't need 'to go'. We recommend his "Hunter Sausage", smoked pork chops and burgers, but it's all well done.

It's pretty remarkable when you encounter someone who really loves what they do, and that's the best way to describe Sara. She says, "My pots are individually made by hand to hold a simple pleasure." Come see imaginative handmade stoneware pottery, local crafts, baskets from Ghana and wander the gardens. You can also usually see pots being made in her open studio on weekday mornings.

When was the last time you shopped in a general store? Fondly referred to as 'Downtown Earltown', this is a must see. Packed with neat locally made wares, fabulous sourdough bread, and maybe pretty awesome cookies, this is a local treasure.

One of the only remaining grain elevators of its kind (i.e. post and beam construction) east of Manitoba, the Tatamagouche Grain Elevator is now home to several shops and artisans. Worth a look indeed.

We are so fortunate to have an active community of folks who keep this walking trail well maintained. Located along the abandoned rail bed of the Intercolonial Rail Line, this trail is open to all for walking, biking and ATV's. Easy access to beautiful views across the water and even just under the shade of the trees. For a short ramble, start at the Creamery Square and walk along the trail to the Patterson Wharf where you can loop back up to Main Street or continue on to the train bridge crossing the mouth of the French River and look at the remains of Campbell's Shipyard.

It's easy to see why Whirligigs is rated as one of the best brunches in Nova Scotia. We recommend the namesake, "Whirligigs" (think eggs benny with fishcakes instead of English muffin) with a side of homefries or their lobster roll is equally amazing. Try to nab a table by the window and watch the harbour.

After a wildly successful stint with their Route 6 food truck, the food scene is expanding with the launch of the North Shore Diner, conveniently located just a hop, skip and a jump down Creamery Road (you can see it from our property). Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch and brunch.
