Super little pub that serves good food too at the top of Hall Bank just up from St Anne's well. In the winter they always have a crackling log fire burning to make it really cosy. This is a really nice bar situated at the top of town just off the market place and they have some decent ales and good food too. It's quiet with no big screen TVs blaring football at you so a good place to go and chat with friends and locals.

Buxton's own brewery tap house. Often has live music on the weekends. There are a few options nearby if this is too busy or you fancy something else. Directly behind The Crescent in the town centre.

This shop is like stepping back in time to a bygone era. No self scanning tills here, just good old fashioned turn of the century shopping with customer service to match. They carry a surprising range of cloths and household soft furnishings and it's worth visiting just to see how shopping used to be.

Parks & Nature

23 acres of beautiful gardens and lakes in the centre of town. A fine cafe/restaurant and often a host venue for all kinds of events throughout the year. There's also a miniature railway that runs around the park at the weekends which is fun for big and small kids alike. The cafe and restaurant is very decent and not too expensive. There is also an indoor play area for small children as well as a botanical garden and tourist information office.

This is the highest point in the Peak District. Most people manage it in around 6 hours up and down but beware; the mountain rescue teams are regularly called out to search for people who get lost or have problems on Kinder Scout. You must be prepared with good clothing, footwear, maps and compasses. Don't rely on your mobile phone to navigate, you will run into problems up there. This is hardcore hiking not for the feint hearted.

The largest hotel in Buxton and a good landmark to find us by. We are just up behind the hotel. The inside of the hotel is a bit 'tired' these days but is still a magnificent building from 1857.
