Arts & Culture

Highfield Hall & Gardens is the beautifully restored 1878 estate, now transformed into a vibrant center of cultural and community life on Cape Cod. The story of this property is dramatic one. It was literally saved from the wrecking ball in 1994 and lovingly restored, opening as a museum and historic site.

The Cape Cod Theatre Project began as an experiment between two actors in 1995. Andrew Polk and Jim Bracchitta sensed that Cape Cod provided the perfect sanctuary for developing new work, combining an idyllic and comforting atmosphere with a community that enjoys and engages with the arts. 20 years later, CCTP is proud to continue supporting the most exciting voices in American theater in one of the most beautiful locations in the country. Each summer during the month of July, four playwrights are invited to develop a piece, utilizing a full week of rehearsal with a director and actors that culminates in a series of readings and talkbacks.

The College Light Opera Company is more than an independent not-for-profit educational theatre, it is a community in which young artists have the opportunity to practice and perfect their art in a supportive and nurturing environment. Founded in 1969, CLOC provides an invaluable learning experience for our nation’s young artists while at the same time staging exciting, fresh productions for the enjoyment of Cape audiences.

Parks & Nature

Named after the Beebe Family that created the Highfield estate, Beebe Woods consists of 383 acres of land given to the Town of Falmouth. A tree farm was located at the Beebe’s nearby farm, on Shore Street in downtown Falmouth, and many of the specimen trees in the town were donated and planted by the Beebe family. Beebe Woods hosts an extensive network of walking trails that cover miles of varied terrain, exploring wooded ridges and steep-sided hollows, and encircle the picturesque pond know as the “Punch Bowl” that lies deep within the Woods. The trails also connect at the southern end of Beebe Woods to Peterson Farm. The Beebe Woods Trailhead may be accessed by parking at Highfield Hall
