The highest village in Cornwall is Minions which is a mere 4 miles from Lestitha Farm on the south east corner of Bodmin Moor, and has a wealth of ancient archeological sites dating from the early bronze age onwards and they are really popular with walkers and hikers, these include the Hurlers, three stone circles dated at around 1500 BC, a line through the centre of them brings you to Rillaton Barrow a large burial mound. Alternatively on the top of Stowes Hill, overlooking Minions, you can see the Cheesering, a natural formation of balancing stones formed during the last ice age and by thousands of years of erosion, the name derives from the shape of the stones and will become patently obvious on viewing! The ancient stannary town of Liskeard is at the head of the Looe Valley and is approximately 12 miles east of Bodmin. Liskeard is one of the few remaining towns in Cornwall to still have a livestock market. It serves a number of small surrounding villages and is the gateway to Bodmin Moor. Liskeard is also the starting point of the Liskeard to Looe railway, one of the most scenic railway trips in the country and a delightful day out! Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A 30 is home to one of Cornwall's Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwall's highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwall's stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families. The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Steins empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have a number of properties nearby - Lanhydrock House, Trerice, Cotehele and Antony (used for Disney's Alice in Wonderland), Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. To the east is the Tamar Valley, a stunning, quiet, picturesque region with some beautiful villages including Calstock with its impressive Viaduct dominating the village, Calstock Quay was originally used for transportation of tin as there is a deep water navigable channel at the top of the tides, although the construction of the Tamar Valley Railway in the early 20th century led to most cargo being transported by rail. Further up stream is Morwellham Quay with its fantastic open air museum, Morwellham Quay has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO, the cultural arm of the UN, and is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Originally set up by the Benedictine Monks from Tavistock Abbey in 961 as a trading route to Plymouth via the Tamar. Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town on the edge of Dartmoor and just across the border in Devon, it has a wealth of fine pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions.

Due to Covid19 UK lockdown we would recommend getting in contact with us before booking to check on availability. Dates up to 3rd July are blocked. Stunning studio loft apartment situated just 200 metres from the sea and beach. Wake up to the view of the Sea. Self contained, self catering with kitchen. Private access to apartment from Top Road. High spec finish within. Wifi with all the mod cons! Minimum night stay varies seasonally.
Wake up to the sea at the end of your bed! Some low sloping ceilings due to it being a loft. Always cleaned to a very high standard.
Small friendly community with great local facilities. This is the best place in Cornwall to spend your summer holiday. I know I am biased as I have lived here for 30 years but honestly, it really is! Downderry has a shop, cafe, pub and restaurant all just 1 minutes walk from the house. The pub 'The Inn On The Shore' is situated right on the sea front and is a great place to enjoy local ales over looking the sea. The shop is a good size and has everything you might need with daily deliveries of fresh food as well as a post office. There is a very popular vegetarian cafe called 'Something Different' in the middle of the village. The Blue Plate restaurant is stunning and very popular locally with an excellent reputation for good food and service, it also has a deli that is open daily. Downderry beach is just 100 metres from the loft which is a family friendly beach used by many of the locals. It is sandy with a few pebbles here and there and has lovely rock pools on low tide to explore. Perfect place for kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, swimming and snorkelling. You can walk all along the beach from Downderry to Seaton. Seaton Beach is just half a mile West of Downderry and is lifeguarded by the RNLI from May - September. Seaton also has 1 bistro beach bar, 1 pub, beach cafe, toilet facilities, children play area including a multi games area and a country park with river valley walks so plenty to do. Just 6 miles to the East the stunning Whitsand Bay is a must. 5 miles of golden sands at Low tide. Adventure Bay Surf School operate from Tregonhawke Beach. It has 4 lifeguarded beaches along its coastline. Just check tide times and swim at the lifeguarded beach in between the red and yellow flags. The area is known for its good surfing waves and subsequent rip currents. Kingsand and Cawsand are beautiful and. Stones throw from Whitsand Bay. Lovely little fishing villages with cobbled streets over looking the mouth of Plymouth Sound. Close by is Mount Edgecombe County Park which has a stately home and gardens to explore as well as a restaurant in its orangery. From Cremyll you can get a foot ferry to Royal William Yard which is over the river Tamar within Plymouth. It is a former vittaling yard which has been converted in to stunning restaurants, bars, and Shops. Well worth a visit. The Hoe and the Barbican area of Plymouth are also well worth a visit, the view of Plymouth Sound from on top of the Hoe is fantastic. To the West along the coast you have the popular villages and towns of Looe, Polperro and Polruan and Fowey. All beautiful quaint Cornish coastal locations. If visiting Fowey avoid the crowds and car parking headaches by driving to Polruan on the East side of the Fowey river and get the foot ferry from the harbour over to Fowey. Everything in Fowey is walking distance. The car park at Polruan at the top of the hill is one of the most beautiful locations of any car park in the U.K. I would think! It looks out over St Austell Bay and down the Fowey River. Try it and see! On Wednesdays in the summer you can go on board a guided tour of the RNLI Lifeboat for a donation of your choice. To get to the North Coast of Cornwall is around 1 hour for places like Polzeath, Perranporth. St Ives a little further at about 1.5 hour drive. The Eden Project is about a 1 hour drive. Large supermarkets can be found at Liskeard (Morrisons) Saltash (Waitrose) Plymouth (Sainsbury's/Tesco/Asda). All but Morrisons do online ordering and home delivery to Downderry if you need to do a large grocery shop while you are here. So much to see and do both close by and a little further a field.

On road parking is available & places on the Business Park opposite. As back up there is a railway car park, £2 a day, as yet none of our guests have had to use it.

A single room in a house, within walking distance of the town centre, bus stops and train station. Off road parking if required. Secure space for bikes, etc. We're on a quiet street, very close to the middle of Saltash and less than a mile from the Tamar bridge. If you're getting the bus then our nearest stop is Fore Street, either top or bottom.
A 1950s house on a quiet road. Most of our neighbours are elderly and so it is very peaceful here. We're on the north side of Saltash and overlook where the Tamar river meets the Tavy. You can see Kit Hill, in Callington from the front of the house, and on a very clear day, both Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor.
We're both very relaxed and like a bottle of wine in the garden or in front of the fire, depending on the time of year. We like the pub and can give good advice on where to visit, both in Saltash and the surrounding area.

  • Anns samskipti voru frábær frá upphafi til enda. Hún svaraði öllum fyrirspurnum mjög fljótt. Ann var mjög komandi með allar upplýsingar. Ég þurfti aldrei að biðja um neitt þar sem hún var þegar eitt skref á undan með því að svara neinu sem hún hélt að við gætum þurft að vita fyrir komu. Við höfðum pantað matvörubúð frá staðbundnum matvörubúð sem þá endaði að koma áður en við höfðum frá flugvellinum. Ann og Geoff horfðu vinsamlega út fyrir þetta, færðu innkauparnar og hófu það fyrir okkur! Við komum, Ann gerði okkur öll te og heitt krossbollur þegar hún gaf okkur ferð og talaði okkur í gegnum allt annað sem við þyrftum að vita. Við fundum heima strax. Sumarbústaðurinn er töfrandi. Ástæðurnar eru fallegar og húsnæði mjög heima. Við eldað tvær nætur sem við vorum þarna. Við höfðum allt sem við þurftum til að gera það. Eldhúsið er vel búið hvað varðar hnífapör, áhöld, plötur o.fl. Geoff tók okkur til að sjá fallega hesta sína þegar við létum þeim vita hversu mikið við elskum dýr. Geoff var líka mjög góður í að koma í ljós að viðarbrennandi eldur á hverju kvöldi og einnig á hverjum morgni svo að við vaknið upp í fallegu, notalega húsi. Það voru sex af okkur sem dvelja í sumarbústaðnum. Við fórum niður fyrir brúðkaup í nágrenninu. Ann lætur okkur vita af leigubílnúmerum sem þýddi að við gætum skipulagt ferðalag okkar auðveldlega. Við höfðum öll dásamleg ferð og hver og einn okkar myndi 100% mæla með sumarbústað Ann.

Dozmary Pool is one of the sites that lay claim to be the home of the Lady of the Lake, where King Arthur rowed out to meet her and receive Excalibur, it is also thought to be where Sir Bedeveer returned Excalibur when King Arthur lay dying after the battle of Camlaan. Whatever the truth it is a stunning spot! King Arthurs influence stretches all the way to Tintagel where the castle could have been the legendary Camelot and the finding of 'Arthurs Stone' in 1998 has only fuelled these myths. - Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island.North Cornwall is as famous for its rugged coastline as it is for its surfing. You can hire surf boards and equipment from Polzeath, up as far as Bude and Widemouth Bay. Boscastle is the only natural harbour for 20 miles and at low tides and certain weather conditions you can find a blowhole at the mouth of the harbour. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. The National Trust have three properties nearby Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell.Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.

This is semi-detached bungalow on a quiet estate with other holiday bungalows has been our holiday home for a number of years. Each bungalow has its own open plan outside space at the back. Ours looks out onto a stream and a wood. There's parking for one car on a drive at the front, as well as a tree and some grass, with visitors' parking a few metres away. There's a pub on the estate too!
We don't employ a cleaner, so we expect our guests to bring their own sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases, and to leave the place as clean as they would have liked to find it! This is our first year of letting out beyond friends and family, so please bear with us! It is a bit run down and basic, and we have issues with damp, but we've made many happy memories here, and we hope you will too!
It's a quiet place, surrounded by nature. There's a nice walk on a public footpath at the end of the drive. It's 25 mins drive to Looe for a sandy beach, or 30 to Hannafore for rockpools. It's 5 mins to Liskeard for all market town amenities and Morrisons.

An attractive 4 berth bunkhouse with en-suite shower room and small food preparation area. We welcome groups of friends and families and well behaved dogs! The coast path is a 5 min walk away and Seaton Beach a 15 min walk with good restaurant, pub and a beach cafe. With sea views and peaceful rural location, this compact accommodation is ideal for a 1 - 3 nights stay. Near to Looe (4 miles). Enjoy a relaxed stop-over with outdoor seating area and space to enjoy the views, eat and BBQ.
The bunkhouse is a quirky and characterful space, with 4 bunk beds, 2 accessed via a ladder. It has a good sized en-suite shower room as well as an attractive food preparation area complete with fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. Please note there is no cooker, however there are many excellent places to eat out locally - just ask for some recommendations! Bedding and towels are provided, as are crockery and cutlery for 4 people. Outside there is a picnic area, with table and undercover BBQ area. Our garden enjoys beautiful sea views across to Rame Head and is incredibly peaceful and rural. Only minutes from the coast path, the bunkhouse is perfect for walkers, cyclists or anyone wanting to explore this hidden corner of Cornwall. Please note that we are on a well for our water supply and a septic tank system, so are careful with water consumption. Excessive water use can cause us to run out!! We are seeking to live in an environmentally friendly way, using electricity and water wisely and recycling as much as possible.
Very peaceful and quiet location. Selection of eating places within a 15 minute walk, in nearby Seaton.
