Botanical Garden
“40 minutes drive. A fascinating location, but, more importantly, Eden is a fun and family-friendly day out. Curious kids can find out where tea, rubber and sugar come from, and travel the world to the simulated environments of tropical destinations that they dream of traveling to in the future. There are themed events according to the seasons, workshops for adults and children, activity days, music concerts and much more besides.”

“Well worth a visit for a bit of art and incredible beach views. The light really is different in St Ives, so it's easy to see why so many artists have been drawn there over the years. ”

“The Lost Gardens of Heligan give you a taste of the exotic, just 5 minutes drive from Mevagissey. It has a fascinating history, abandoned during the war, only to be rediscovered and brought back to life years later. We love visiting in May/June to see the gigantic rhodedendrons, and seeing what's growing in the fruit and vegetable gardens. There are jungle-like gardens to explore including a rope walk and stunning sculptures in the woods that look like they are growing from the ground. They organise fun events throughout the year - check their website for details.”

“An interesting historical site with fantastic scenery. Rather costly to get into but worth a view from the outside at least. There is also a very beautiful church nearby on the cliff top.”

“In a beautiful, sheltered valley overlooking St Michael’s Mount; the woods, stream and dramatic vistas provide the perfect setting for large-scale exotic and sub-tropical planting at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens in Cornwall. Interwoven with the planting is an evolving programme of contemporary artwork by internationally renowned artists such as James Turrell, David Nash and Richard Long, who have interacted with the setting to create site-specific permanent work that harmonise with the landscape.”

“House and gardens with an extensive book shop and Art Gallery. The cafe is a favourite! The Woodland walk is beautiful all year round, with an optional path that leads down to the St Mawes Ferry where you can ride across the estuary and back for a donation. Of course, you could drive onto the ferry, and take a tour around St Mawes. The castle is well worth a visit.”

“Explore the wild and stunning Bodmin Moor. we are right on the southern edge of the moor and very close to many historic mining sites. A number of walking routes allow you to get close to these evocative ruins and take in the far reaching views. Park at a local farm shop and enjoy a pasty or cream tea! A favourite spot is Minions - high up on the moor close to the famous Cheesewrings and ancient stone monuments. The village has a lovely café and a great pub!”

“We have been here a few times (on special occasions as it is not cheap!) and have always had the tasting menu. The food is incredible, plus a lovely atmosphere and beautiful views over Watergate Bay. It is worth asking if they will be able to seat you by the window when you book, so you can make the most of the views.”

“We've visited this restaurant on several occasions its one of the best low key seafood restaurants in Falmouth. Great experience but they only take cash and you must book well in advance to secure a table, oh and be prepared to get your hands dirty. Shellfish only!”
