Our city takes noise disturbances seriously. Keep in mind the noise levels you would be comfortable with from your neighbors at home, and your stay should be free of troubles and full of enjoyable memories. Any noise citations are the responsibility of the guest.

Please let us know in advance of any events or outside vendors. Parties are allowed only with written permission and may require a city permit.

We want you to make fabulous memories in your vacation rental.

Please read through the following house rules and ONLY request to book if you and your guests can follow them. You will be asked to acknowledge these rules when booking, and failure to follow them will be considered a violation of the rental agreement.

Most guests have no problem enjoying themselves while being respectful of city law, the property, and our neighbors.

CITY LAW NOW PROHIBITS MUSIC AND PARTIES

As of January 2021, city ordinance 95C effectively prohibits parties and any kind of noise (including from portable speakers) in the backyard of vacation rentals. This order is in effect 24/7.

This is not our rule—this is city law and will be strictly enforced at any vacation rental in Indio. Similar laws are in place in Palm Springs and other localities due to increasing complaints from residential neighbors.

We know this may disappoint some guests. Unfortunately, it is what the city requires in order to continue permitting vacation rentals without disturbing long-term residents.

Normal noise levels (normal conversation, kids splashing in the pool) are fine. However, noise above this level and any music will likely prompt complaints from the neighbors.

Neighbors have been asked to contact Desert VIP Services directly in response to a noise violation. If the violation continues, the city has established a vacation rental hotline that residents can call to request police assistance and a citation. Any fines (from the city or HOA) are the responsibility of the guest.

If we receive multiple citations for the same property, we may have our vacation rental permit revoked by the city, so we also take noise violations very seriously.

Note that noise violations, parties, etc. are a breach of the rental agreement, which gives Desert VIP Services the right to enter the property without notice. We also reserve the right to evict guests in response to a violation of the rental agreement.

Bottom line: Consider the noise level that you would want from neighbors at home, and do the same in your rental.

If you are considering hosting an event (small wedding, birthday party, etc.), please contact us before booking. You may be able to obtain a special event permit from the city of Indio. However, we cannot guarantee approval, and any city fees are your responsibility.

NOISE METERS

Like many vacation rental managers, we use decibels readers to send alerts when the noise level crosses the threshold allowed by our city. The noise meters do not record conversations.

In the event that we are alerted, we will text and/or call. If there is no response or the noise continues to exceed city limits, we will make an in-person visit.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS

Your rental agreement will specify how many guests you are contracted to bring. Any additional guests require prior written approval.

City code limits the number of guests allowed in a rental (both overnight and during the day), and we also like to know who may be onsite in the event of an emergency.

Overnight guests beyond what is listed, in addition to being pre-approved, must pay an extra fee. Discovery of additional persons at the property without prior approval will result in eviction and forfeiture of security deposit.

The city also has new ordinances regarding parking and trash at vacation rentals.

Parking is only allowed in designated spots and, in some cases, on the street directly in front of the rental. Parking in front of other homes is strictly prohibited by the city.

Trash must remain out of public view, except when it is in the proper containers for the purpose of trash removal by the city.

AGE MINIMUMS

While we welcome guests of all ages, the person signing the rental agreement must be at least 30 years old. We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking if the age minimum is not met.

CONFETTI, PETS, POOL HEATING

Please note that water balloons and confetti are not allowed. We have had problems with these items getting into the pool and landscaping, and they are very difficult to remove. We ask that you leave them at home.

All pets must be pre-approved and are not guaranteed to be pre-approved. An additional pet fee of $150 per dog is in addition to the rate quoted.
