Ask anyone who has been to Tahoe and they will tell you about hearing the breeze in the treetops, smelling the fresh scent of pine mixed with the sweetness of sap, and gazing at the deep blue water which rests at the center of this well-appointed vacation rental. The space is always professionally cleaned before each guest arrives. Also given the current pandemic, the entire house is disinfected with an electrostatic disinfectant sprayer so all contact points throughout the home are clean pursuant to and exceeding CDC guidelines.

The property partially borders Nevada State Route 28, which can be seen from the photos, videos, and interactive tours we have posted showing the lake views. During peak times (holidays, weekends, ski season, and high summer) this main thoroughfare can get busy from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. as it is one of the three main ways in and out of the north part of the Lake Tahoe. Although the traffic is not noticeable from inside the home, it can be noticeable during those busy times of the day if you are on the decks enjoying the view or the hot tub . . . one of the trade-offs of Crystal Bay in general. Before 9 a.m. and after 8 p.m. the area is quite quiet with only an occasional passing vehicle. If you desire a view *and* true remoteness, you will have to venture to the higher elevations in Incline Village near the top of Mt. Rose, which can be challenging to get to during snow season (November 1 through May 31).

Also, as a final caveat, the last 1/4 mile to the residence has two steep one lane roads and can be challenging to navigate during snow season if the roads ice over and our guests are not adequately prepared. We *always* watch travel conditions prior to and during your stay and will advise you accordingly both before your arrival as well as during your stay so your adventure can be as effortless as possible.

Incline Village, Nevada, Bandaríkin

Crystal Bay is yet another beautiful lakeside community where visitors can find fabulous dining, music, and plenty of chance to test your luck at the tables. Crystal Bay’s shoreline is covered with stunning granite boulders that reach down 1,645 feet to one of the deeper parts of the Lake in the middle of the bay.

In 1927, entrepreneur Norman Henry Biltz came to Lake Tahoe creating subdivisions in Crystal Bay, and built the Crystal Bay and Cal Neva Lodges, Hotels and casinos continued to be built well into the 1950′s. In the 1960′s, Frank Sinatra owned the Cal-Neva for a period, where famous entertainers appeared on stage. Today, downtown Crystal Bay features 3 bustling casinos as well as a variety of lodging, restaurants, live entertainment and spas.

Lake Tahoe's original residents were the Indians who lived and fished along its shores. As time passed and civilization moved west, settlers paused in the passes to the North and South to marvel at the color and clarity of this magnificent body of water.

In the mid-1800's lumber interests discovered the Nevada North Shore as an excellent source of timber for the Washoe mines and at that point began the methodical logging of the area that we know as Incline Village. It was known as Incline in those days which was named after the double track narrow gauge tramline which carried logs nearly 1,400 feet vertically to the V-flume which ran along the granite mountain top outcroppings. The 4,000 feet vertical tram line was located in the current Mill Creek Subdivision. Hikes can find the scares and remnants of the tram line and flume in the area between Mill Creek and Sand Harbor Beach, now a state park.

The flume carried Incline's timber on the first leg of its route to the water tunnel through the mountains on the and to mines of Virginia City and the Washoe Valley. In 1884 the remote settlement of Incline was declared both an election precinct and a fourth class post office, thus marking the first time that Incline was "on the map."

By 1897 Incline had been left a sea of stumps with a maze of crumbling flumes and rotting log chutes. A rejuvenation started in the 1930's when summer homes were build from the Hyatt Lake Tahoe Hotel along what is now Lake Shore Blvd. By now lumber interests had sold most of the Nevada North shore from Crystal Bay to Zephyr Cove to a multi-millionaire real estate magnate "Captain" George Whittell. Captain Whittell built his stone castle on a point south of Sand Harbor. The Captain was quite a character and at one time had wild animals roaming his reserve. The cages can still be seen if you visit the castle.

Incline was little more than a wide spot in the road during the 30's, 40's and early 50's. Only summer homes and a trailer park distinguished it. Year around residents were few and those that remained told stories of wild winters, food shortages and isolation. In the late 1950's Crystal Bay Development Company approached Captain Whittell, then in his declining years, with an offer to purchase 9,000 acres which is Incline Village today. Crystal Bay Development Company had a grand plan for a community totally unique and master planned. The sale made, development began and in the 1960's, roads were cut, a ski area designed, beaches were developed and golf course conceived by well known designer, Robert Trent Jones.

Private homes were under construction along Lakeshore Blvd which was still the main highway, in Mill Creek and the central areas. The Ponderosa area was developed and the lake front condominiums were built. Lake front condominiums were selling for under $40,000. A small shopping center began with a market and post office. Children attended elementary school above the drug store now a sandwich shop. High school students were bussed to Reno, leaving at 6 AM in the morning and on winter days, not returning until 8 or 9 PM at night. In an effort to preserve something of those early logging days, named this new community "Incline Village." By 1964 a new elementary school was under construction, and several years later, the community cut the ribbon at Incline High School. Incline Village was well on its way. In June of 1968, Crystal Bay Development sold its remaining interest to Boise Cascade Corporation and new development began.

A second golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. was constructed and the upper areas of Incline Village began developing as part of the master plan. Large condominium projects were built such as Mountain Shadows, Forest Pines, and Woodstock. Where supply could not meet the demands of the 1960's, now in the early 1970's supply exceeded the demand and Incline Village experienced a recession. Recover came in 1976 as renewed interest in Incline Village as a year round community sprang up. Residents became interested in their political future and incorporation was discussed just as it is today including forming a Lake county. The swing had started toward a community of more full time residents with the facilities being built to handle their needs.

Today's residents and property owners come from all parts of the country and world. They are hard-working young families and relaxed retirees. They are corporate executives, airline pilots, teachers, builders, artists, and writers. They have one thing in common - their love for North Lake Tahoe with its clear, crisp air and water.
