This review is not an honest assessment of our home or our job as friendly hosts. This guest was very demanding and we tried our best to accommodate his needs and make his stay pleasant. He’s chosen to review our property poorly because we asked him to pay for items he either broke or ruined.
Our apartment is not abnormally hot. I explained to the guest that it is very hot in July in NYC. The weekend of their stay had temperatures in the 70’s and 80’s, which is very mild heat for the NYC summer. We provided 2 fans for the comfort of our guests. This guest wanted to buy more fans and be reimbursed for the cost, which we declined to accept.
Of course simply opening a closet in our home isn’t a big deal. The issue we had was that all of our closets were clearly searched through and the guest used 2 sets of sheets of my children which are special to them and which we don’t use for our house guests.
I'm a host since more than 10 years on Airbnb, I never asked any money for broken or even stolen object but dishonesty and lies push me to ask for money. When asked about the condition we found the house, this guest changed their story several times and showed that they were not being honest about what had happened. This bad review is simply a revenge. Here is his quote from our private exchange:
" I would have given you a 5-star rating had there been enough fans to make the temperature bearable and you didn't ask for CAD $106 to replace sheets that were used due to a miscommunication, and easily could have been washed. "
We hope that this guests dishonesty won’t discourage you from staying in our home and being our guests. Thanks for reading.
