Learn provençal recipes and go swimming after lunch

This is a fun and informal cooking workshop, with a lunch afterwards.
It will be hands-on cooking, so you'll be very busy chopping, kneading, and stirring the pots. We'll cook Provençal and Mediterranean dishes that are healthy, fresh, modern and we always use seasonal products. We'll prepare a Provençal buffet or a 3 course lunch, learn cooking techniques, and pay attention to making a beautiful presentation. Afterwards, we'll sit down for a lunch at the poolside with a pairing of local wines.

I've lived in many countries, but I always like to return to the South of France. I just love the sunny and mild climate, the food, the smell of garrigue—the wild hillside herbs—and the sound of the crickets. I was trained in French cuisine at Institut Paul Bocuse, and later in modern French cuisine at Alain Ducasse's training center. I like to taste and travel, and that's where I get my cooking inspiration from. My favorite cuisines are Vietnamese, modern Australian, and, of course, French and Mediterranean. You'll see these influences in the recipes we cook. Hope to see you soon.

Staðsetning

We will be at a summer kitchen, close to the pool. The summer kitchen is an open-air, breezy building with a good flow, and beautiful wide views, where it's great cooking. It's a full kitchen with all the necessary equipment, recently installed. Lunch will be served at the poolside, too. We're situated close to the town of Uzes, in the region of Gard Provençal. Note that public transport is limited, so you'll need a car to come here.

Our experience was worth it just for venue. The location is breathtaking with panoramic views and open kitchen looking out over a beautiful pool area. It almost was like cooking outdoors. We did eat outside on the large patio which was wonderful. The village is quite small, but full of French countryside charm. Our host was knowledgeable and welcoming. We made a mixed paella, gazpacho, and a fruit compote. You can do as much as you want or you can simply watch and learn. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty along with local wines. We were lucky as it was just my wife and me so it was like having lunch with a friend. We were very satisfied with our experience and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

My recent university grad daughter and I spent a week exploring the signicant historical and natural sites in the area near Marlette's home and this was easily our favourite experience from the week. It was a way of slowing down, making and experiencing something that nourishes body and soul. Marlette had carefully chosen the day's menu and prepared the cooking area so it was easy to breeze in and make a delectable meal in relative ease. She had helpful tips for all cooking skill levels. She made us all feel appreciated. It was a little bit of work, lots of learning, but especially fun. My daughter and the other young people even got in the pool to cool off before we tucked in to the delicious meal. Everything was top-notch. The location, the food, and especially the company.

Marlette was a wonderful host and teacher. We made an incredible Bouillabaisse Marseillaise with fresh ingredients and some of the best ice-cream I've ever had with the dessert. I highly recommend the experience.

Marlette was watmy communicative prior to our cooking class and upon our arrival, warmly welcomed us. She has expertly curated her kitchen and menus for a great cooking experience, and her outdoor kitchen set in the countryside of Provence is extraordinary. It was a lovely, unforgettable experience. This could not have been a lovelier experience. First of all, the photos cannot do justice to the setting—spectacular! The open-air kitchen is a joy to work in: immaculate, charming, completely equipped, very up-to-date. But Marlette herself is the true treat. Not only is she knowledgeable and well-trained, she is patient and encouraging. Although I’ve been cooking for 50+ years, I knew my knife skills needed help. She gently guided me on how to use a knife to finely mince garlic and to prepare mire-poix, improving my knife technique. She is delightful and relaxed. The recipes were very authentic to the region, and allowed me to learn several techniques. I feel convenient I can replicate this beautiful meal on my own. And then you get to sit in this glorious patio garden with the pool and have lunch. I’ve been in France for 3 months, and this is definitely one of the best days I’ve spent. And, her price is comparatively quite reasonable, a tremendous value. Her communication is also clear and prompt. I hope to take more classes with Marlette. Maybe even next week, if she has an opening. I highly recommend this incredible experience.
