Just as Naples is the capital of Italy’s thick-rimmed wood-fired pizza pies, Bari and its surrounding Pugliese towns are home to a beloved regional flatbread called focaccia. I'm sure that you must have tried the regular focaccia, that you'll usually get served in an Italian restaurant, but what I offer you to learn cooking with me, is an original Pugliese recipe for the focaccia, that you will see it is a lot different and tastier than any focaccia you have ever tried.

The Focaccia is drenched in a special Pugliese olive oil before the soft dough is stretched into place, so when it all goes into the oven, the dough practically fries in the pan as it bakes, rendering the bottom and sides crispy and pleasantly oily, while the inside is nicely soft.

During the experience, we will make two focaccia. One I will firstly prepare and explain to you all the details, and then you will make the second one by yourself with my guidance. Even if you have never cooked before, I will guide you through the process and at the end, you will surely be able to make the "Focaccia Pugliese" by yourself and bring this tasty pastry to your friends and family back home.

When you book the experience, please let us know, if you are a Vegan or a Vegetarian, so that we may provide for you an appropriate snack to enjoy with your focaccia, after it's done :)

I'm a "young" man, that is really passionate about cooking. I have learned a lot about the Italian kitchen and most specifically the best recipes of Puglia (South Italy) cuisine from a cook, that is originally from there, and it's part of my family. Many of the most famous foods of Italy come from Puglia. Its deeply-rooted "cucina povera" tradition means its cuisine tends to be simple and delicious, relying on fresh, local produce.

The experience will be hosted in our Green Sweet Home-Airbnb kitchen, where we will be using a specific originally made in Puglia wooden "Spianatoia" (pastry board) for the kneading of the dough.

We had a wonderful time making focaccia with Luca! He was so thoughtful and welcoming of us. He gives a great class on how to make focaccia, first demonstrating his technique, and then guiding you as you make your own, but more than that he makes you feel like family in his home. He gave us an incredible assortment of homemade food for dinner, as well as lots of great tips for the rest of our trip. He also provides you with laminated instructions to bring home to your own kitchen, and some starter yeast. So thoughtful! I would highly recommend this and I would do it again if I go back to the area.

Luca and Radi are very friendly people and made us feel comfortable while we were there. The lesson was great with detailed instruction and was a truly fun experience!

We really enjoyed our foccacia making experience with Luca and Radi, and would have loved to have us join us for the feast and conversation afterward! They were genial, helpful, and when there was a kerfuffle with the pickup, came and found us, as we couldn't have found them! Very wonderful, highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience with Luca and Radi. He picked us up at our Airbnb and took us to their very comfortable home for an evening of fun, making delicious focaccia. Luca demonstrated first then we each got to make our own, sharing good conversation and learning. We were also treated to a huge spread at their dining table with many different cheeses and meats along with Prosecco and red wine. They were both warm, engaging and fun to get to know. And they shared recommendations on things to do in Venice.

This was a very fun experience to have while staying in Treviso. It was a last minute decision we made after seeing their notices on website. Really charming couple who invited us into their home and showed us how to make focaccia with a family recipe from Luka's mother and grandparents. Radi makes one then we made the next. We ate her's while ours baked. All that preceded by a nice spread of different prosciuttos, cheeses, bread and of course wine. They wrote out the recipe and directions for future use and picked us up dropped us off in Treviso! Try it, you'll have fun spending a few hours doing something different and the focaccia is worth waiting for!
